Rosé River Run 2026: Running Through the Vines for a Cause

default
Each spring at Rivaura Estate Vineyard & Winery, the vineyards along the Clearwater River become more than a place where great wine is grown—they become a place where the community gathers with a shared purpose. The Rosé River Run has grown into one of the most meaningful events held on the estate, bringing together runners, families, and supporters from across the Northwest to raise awareness about one of the most urgent issues facing communities today: fentanyl. What began as a small local gathering has grown into a powerful moment of unity, where every step taken through the vineyard helps shine light on a crisis that has touched countless families.
The event is held in memory of Cal Daniel Heinen, childhood best friend to co-winemaker Lane Hewett, whose life was tragically lost to an accidental fentanyl overdose. His story, like many others across the country, is a reminder of how quickly and quietly this crisis can impact a family, a friend group, and an entire community. Through the Rosé River Run, Rivaura hopes to turn grief into awareness—creating space for conversation, education, and support. Proceeds and donations from the event help promote fentanyl awareness efforts, encouraging people to learn more, talk openly, and look out for one another.
On race day, participants run or walk a scenic 5K course that winds through the Rivaura vineyards and along the banks of the Clearwater River. But the miles themselves are only part of the story. The real purpose lies in the people gathered together—neighbors, families, and friends standing shoulder to shoulder to honor Cal’s memory and to help prevent similar tragedies in the future. The Rosé River Run reflects something deeply rooted in the Rivaura spirit: community showing up for community.
At the finish line, the atmosphere shifts from reflection to celebration. Participants gather around the Event Barn to share a glass of wine, music, craft vendors, food, and conversation. It’s a moment that captures both the beauty of the land and the strength of the people who come together on it. The Rosé River Run reminds us that even in the face of difficult realities, awareness, compassion, and community can create meaningful change—one step, one conversation, and one gathering at a time.
